Mr Heywood has a Master Degree in Environmental Technology from Imperial College London – Faculty of Engineering and over 32 years of professional international experience. Mr Heywood is a Water Resources Engineer and Environmental Specialist and has worked on numerous international projects from Eastern Europe (West Balkans), Middle East, Africa and Asia. Mr Heywood has recently spent more than ten years in Balkan countries (primarily Albania, BiH and Montenegro) working as Team Leader on several international projects including:

  • Team Leader and Environmental Specialist on updating the water resources Basis of the Vrbas Basin in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This project lasted for 3 years and prepared the ground for the RBMP for the Vrbas Basin. Many of the topics covered are included in DRB Project, including the public consultation process and hence Mr Heywood has first-hand experience of all such work.
  • Team Leader for the World Bank funded project “Hydrological Modelling and Preparation of the Water and Climate Adaptation Plan (WATCAP) for the Sava River Basin which is in the process of being completed. This project includes an assessment of climate change adaptation strategies covering many sectors including, river navigation, agriculture, hydropower, flooding and economics and includes the catchment of the DRB.
  • Team Leader and Environmental Specialist for the preparation of two SEAs in Montenegro covering the Energy Strategy in Montenegro by 2030 and the Detailed Spatial Plan for the Morača River Hydropower Project. The work includes assessment of environmental legislation and substantial public consultation activities.

Consequently as can be seen, Mr Heywood has the necessary experience to be Team Leader on this Project, having undertaken numerous other similar projects in the West Balkans over the past 10 years. Mr Heywood is a native English Speaker from Great Britain and has excellent administration and monitoring skills combined with broad reporting experience in the English language.
